The live table shows all six PGM prices, five in US dollars per troy ounce and osmium in euros per gram, each with its price series, source and last update, because no single market prices all six metals. Platinum and palladium are spot quotes with a bid and an ask. Rhodium, iridium and ruthenium are refiner quotes, and osmium is one institute's per-gram price.
A "delayed" badge appears on the platinum and palladium rows after 15 minutes without a new quote. The widget switches between troy ounces, grams and kilograms, converts into 20 currencies, and its "Set alert" button emails you when any PGM crosses a level you choose.
One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams, so a PGM's gram price is its ounce price divided by 31.1034768 and its kilogram price is the ounce price times 32.1507466. The six PGM prices in all three units are listed below.
| Metal | Per troy ounce | Per gram | Per kilogram |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum (USD) | $1,711.00 | $55.01 | $55,009.93 |
| Palladium (USD) | $1,165.00 | $37.46 | $37,455.62 |

| Osmium, crystalline (EUR) | not quoted per ounce | €2,341.97 | €2,341,973.77 |
The troy ounce is 9.7% heavier than the 28.349523125-gram avoirdupois ounce used for food and postage. As a worked example with a hypothetical input, if a PGM were 2,000 USD per troy ounce, one gram would cost 64.30 USD and one kilogram 64,301.49 USD. Osmium works the other way: the market quotes it per gram, and any per-ounce figure is a conversion, not a market price.
Other weights, from pennyweights to tolas, convert with the same factors in the troy ounce converter.
Platinum has moved +4.76% over one year, palladium −7.78% and rhodium +27.21%, each on the series shown in its row. The four change periods for all six PGMs are listed below.
| Metal | 24 hours | 1 month | Year to date | 1 year | Series |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum | +1.18% | −5.67% | −17.09% | +4.76% | OTC spot |
| Palladium | +1.13% | −15.06% | −27.56% | −7.78% | OTC spot |
| Rhodium | 0.00% | −4.26% | −0.28% | +27.21% | Refiner base price |
| Iridium | 0.00% | +3.82% | +75.92% | +77.80% | Refiner base price |
| Ruthenium | 0.00% | +4.48% | +71.07% | +92.73% | Refiner base price |
| Osmium | −0.53% | −1.51% | +6.50% | +7.43% | Osmium-Institut, crystalline |
Year-to-date changes start from each series' last 2025 value. For scale, platinum closed 2025 just over $2,000 per troy ounce on Johnson Matthey's reading, and the LBMA Palladium Price ended 2025 at $1,660.
Each PGM price here is the latest quote from the source named in its row: spot for platinum and palladium, refiner base prices for rhodium, iridium and ruthenium, and an institute price per gram for osmium. Every row states the four items listed below.
Minor-metal rows move in steps because refiners publish quotes on a schedule: Johnson Matthey resets its base prices four times each business day, so its series is smoother than the bilateral trading behind it. The platinum and palladium rows are vendor spot quotes, not the LBMA benchmark, whose data has required a license from ICE Benchmark Administration since 1 July 2026. Each of these price data sources and its license terms is documented under price data sources.
PGM stands for platinum group metals: platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium, six transition metals in groups 8, 9 and 10 of the periodic table. PGM is the market's term for the six metals as traded commodities; geologists call the same elements PGEs, platinum group elements.
The platinum group metals share one block of the periodic table, periods 5 and 6 of groups 8 to 10, but not one market: platinum and palladium trade on exchanges, while the other four depend on refiner or institute quotes. Properties, uses and prices of each metal are profiled under platinum group metals (PGMs).
The six PGMs split into three light PGMs (ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, 12.0 to 12.4 g/cm3) and three heavy PGMs (osmium, iridium, platinum, 21.5 to 22.6 g/cm3). The split maps onto the periodic table: the light metals sit in period 5 and the heavy metals in period 6. Each metal's identity data is listed below.
| Metal | Symbol | Atomic number | CAS number | Period / group | Density at 20 °C (g/cm3) | Class |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ruthenium | Ru | 44 | 7440-18-8 | 5 / 8 | 12.364 | Light |
| Rhodium | Rh | 45 | 7440-16-6 | 5 / 9 | 12.423 | Light |
| Palladium | Pd | 46 | 7440-05-3 | 5 / 10 | 12.007 | Light |
| Osmium | Os | 76 | 7440-04-2 | 6 / 8 | 22.587 | Heavy |
| Iridium | Ir | 77 | 7439-88-5 | 6 / 9 | 22.562 | Heavy |
| Platinum | Pt | 78 | 7440-06-4 | 6 / 10 | 21.452 | Heavy |
Osmium (22.587 g/cm3) and iridium (22.562 g/cm3) differ by only 0.025 g/cm3, a gap settled by X-ray crystallography, and palladium's density is 56.0% of platinum's, so a palladium bar is far larger than a platinum bar of the same weight.
Only platinum and palladium trade on exchanges; rhodium, iridium and ruthenium are priced by refiners' daily quotes, and osmium by one institute's per-gram price. The coverage of eight price sources across the six metals is compared below.

The LBMA Platinum Price and LBMA Palladium Price are benchmark prices for unallocated metal in London, set by electronic auctions from 09:45 and 14:00 London time, administered by ICE Benchmark Administration (IBA) since 1 July 2026. The London Metal Exchange ran them from December 2014 to 30 June 2026. Each palladium auction follows the platinum auction, giving four benchmarks each business day.
Auction rounds last 60 seconds and repeat until buying and selling balance within 4,000 oz, with at least two active Direct Participants (IBA methodology, July 2026). Auction rules and data licensing for the LBMA platinum and palladium prices are on LBMA platinum and palladium prices.
Futures add a second price. NYMEX lists platinum in 50-troy-ounce contracts and palladium in 100-troy-ounce contracts, and China's Guangzhou Futures Exchange (GFEX) launched physically settled platinum and palladium futures on 27 November 2025, at 1,000 grams per lot priced in yuan per gram, according to WPIC. No exchange lists futures on rhodium, iridium, ruthenium or osmium.
Rhodium, iridium and ruthenium prices are refiner quotes, led by Johnson Matthey base prices for sponge metal in US dollars per troy ounce, reset four times each business day: 08:30 and 14:30 Hong Kong time, 09:00 London and 09:30 US Eastern. The three refiners whose quotes are most cited are listed below.
A base price is one firm's quote to its customers, not an auction result, and minor-PGM trades can be days apart. Sponge accreditation from the London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM) covers platinum, palladium and rhodium only, so iridium and ruthenium lack even that standard. Minor PGM prices are therefore quoted with their refiner, setting and form, and the conventions of each refiner are compared under how minor PGM prices are quoted.
Osmium is the only PGM quoted per gram, and its most visible price is the Osmium-Institut's daily price for crystalline osmium, a collector product rather than wholesale metal. No exchange, benchmark or refiner quotes osmium, and world output is about 500 to 550 kg a year (SFA and IPA, May 2026). The three osmium products priced by osmium-preis.com on 24 September 2026 are listed below.
| Osmium product | Price (EUR per gram) | Form |
|---|---|---|
| Crystalline osmium | 2,289.84 | Certified crystallized pieces |
| HighTech-Ready-Osmium (HTRO) | 1,144.92 | Purified powder |
| Fine-Osmium | 54.30 | Raw fine metal |
Vendor prices, not a market.
Crystalline osmium costs about 42 times as much per gram as Fine-Osmium on these quotes. The gap reflects the product: osmium powder reacts with air to form toxic osmium tetroxide (OsO4), while crystallized osmium does not, and each certified piece carries an Osmium Identification Code. The widget's osmium row shows crystalline osmium, whose investment case is covered under crystalline osmium.
PGM spreads are wider than gold's because the less a metal trades, the more dealers charge to deal at once: spreads widen from platinum to palladium to rhodium, and iridium, ruthenium and osmium have no public two-way quote. The full order runs gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, then iridium and ruthenium, then osmium. Kitco publishes bid and ask prices for platinum, palladium and rhodium only.
Spreads widen again for very small and very large tickets, for sponge rather than Good Delivery plate, and outside London and Zurich. The bid, the ask and the delivery terms behind the spot price of platinum are explained under spot price of platinum.
Rhodium and iridium are the most expensive PGMs per troy ounce, with rhodium ahead on Umicore's fabricated sales prices of 5 August 2026: rhodium at €254.95 per gram and iridium at €241.95 per gram, 4.8 and 4.6 times platinum's €52.65. Today's order is in the live table, with rhodium at $9,000.00 and iridium at $8,150.00 per troy ounce.
The same Umicore quotes put ruthenium (€52.55 per gram) level with platinum and palladium lowest at €42.60 per gram. Crystalline osmium, at €2,289.84 per gram on 24 September 2026, works out to about €71,200 per troy ounce by our own conversion, but it is a collector product, not wholesale metal, so it is not ranked.
Each PGM set its all-time high on a different price series: platinum $2,923 per troy ounce on 26 January 2026 (WPIC) and palladium $3,440.76 on 7 March 2022 (Trading Economics). The six records, each with its series, are listed below.
| Metal | All-time high (USD per troy ounce) | Date | Series and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum | 2,923 | 26 January 2026 | WPIC; $2,860 on Johnson Matthey's base price, $2,923.70 on NYMEX futures |
| Palladium | 3,440.76 | 7 March 2022 | Trading Economics; Reuters same-day report |
| Rhodium | Around 29,800 | March 2021 | Dealer-quoted series only; not confirmed by a benchmark or exchange |
| Iridium | Record set in Q1 2026, level pending source | Q1 2026 | Johnson Matthey attribution awaiting a page citation |
| Ruthenium | 1,750 | 13 March 2026 | Johnson Matthey base price (Reuters, 16 March 2026) |
| Osmium | No market record | n/a | No exchange, benchmark or refiner series exists |
Rhodium's 2026 high was $12,000 per troy ounce in late February 2026, according to Johnson Matthey's May 2026 report. Ruthenium's $1,750 record stood 212% above its $560 level a year earlier (Reuters).
Highs, lows and the series behind every PGM price record are compiled under PGM price records.
Palladium reached parity with platinum on 27 September 2017, the first time since 2001, then traded above it until platinum regained its premium by the end of 2025. The inversion peaked when palladium set its $3,440.76 record on 7 March 2022. In 2025 the LBMA Palladium Price rose 67.0%, from $994 to $1,660.
The two metals substitute close to 1:1 in autocatalysts, so the platinum vs palladium price gap shapes catalyst design on new vehicle models. Price, properties and uses are compared under platinum vs palladium price.
PGM prices fell from their January 2026 peaks because investors sold metal and macro risk rose: WPIC attributes 2026's platinum surplus "overwhelmingly" to first-half investment outflows. Platinum peaked at $2,923 on 26 January 2026 (WPIC) and palladium above $2,100 (Johnson Matthey), and Johnson Matthey ties the March 2026 fall to concern after the outbreak of war in Iran and to US dollar strength. Platinum then touched $1,646 per troy ounce in June 2026, the 2026 low on the LBMA series (learn.bulliontradingllc.com). The six drivers and their dated evidence are listed below.
| Driver | Metals exposed | Dated evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Investment flows | Platinum, palladium | 83 koz platinum net disinvestment forecast for 2026 (WPIC, 9 September 2026) |
| Macro risk and the US dollar | All six | March 2026 fall on war in Iran and dollar strength (Johnson Matthey, May 2026) |
| Vehicle output | Rhodium, palladium, platinum | Autocatalysts took 84.6% of rhodium demand in 2025 (Johnson Matthey) |
| Hydrogen electrolysis | Iridium, platinum | 400 kg of iridium per GW of PEM electrolyzer capacity (US DOE, 2022) |
| Data storage and chemicals | Ruthenium | 203 koz ruthenium deficit forecast for 2026 (Metals Focus, 16 March 2026) |
| Russian supply and trade policy | Palladium | 132.83% final US anti-dumping margin on Russian palladium (28 April 2026); no order in force |
Each driver hits the metals unevenly. Mine supply, recycling and end-use demand across the platinum group metals market are tracked under platinum group metals market.
Macro flows set the January peak: WPIC's attribution model put the unexplained part of platinum's price above US$500 per ounce on 26 January 2026, and at minus US$11 after the reset.
For platinum alone, the factors behind what drives the platinum price are ranked under what drives the platinum price.
PGM supply comes mainly from South Africa and Russia, with recycling as the third source: South Africa supplies more than 80% of world primary iridium (IPA/SFA, 2026); southern Africa as a whole accounts for up to about 95% (Johnson Matthey, 2022). South African platinum output reached 1.002 million ounces in Q1 2026, up 41% year on year, while Russia supplied 136,000 oz (down 24%) and Zimbabwe 84,000 oz (down 26%), according to WPIC's Platinum Quarterly Q1 2026.
Russian palladium faces US trade action: the US Commerce Department set a final anti-dumping margin of 132.83% on unwrought Russian palladium on 28 April 2026, but the US International Trade Commission's negative injury finding means no order is in force. Sibanye-Stillwater's appeal at the Court of International Trade is pending.
Recycling grows with price: Johnson Matthey (May 2026) reports that strong prices are accelerating autocatalyst recycling. Rhodium supply in 2025 was 21.8 t (701 koz) from mines and 31.5 t (1,013 koz) including recycled metal, on Johnson Matthey's figures.
PGM demand comes from four uses: autocatalysts, hydrogen electrolyzers, electronics and chemical catalysts, and investment, and each metal leans on a different one. The four uses and the metals they draw on are listed below.
Rhodium's 84.6% autocatalyst share in 2025 fell just below the 85% to 95% band Johnson Matthey quotes, so vehicle output remains rhodium's main demand driver. Vehicle sales drive autocatalyst demand for platinum and palladium too.
Ruthenium has no automotive line in Johnson Matthey's tables; Metals Focus forecast a 203,000 oz deficit for 2026 (16 March 2026).
Iridium's hydrogen exposure is direct: a PEM electrolyzer uses about 400 kg of iridium per gigawatt today (US DOE, 2022), and Johnson Matthey's 2026 report records "the first commercial-scale use of iridium in proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis for green hydrogen". Fuel cells and electrolyzers are covered under platinum and the hydrogen economy.
Johnson Matthey's 2026 PGM Market Report (14 May 2026) puts platinum in a fourth consecutive deficit, palladium and rhodium in small surpluses, and ruthenium and iridium in further deficit, after all five were in deficit in 2025. Its 2026 direction for each metal is listed below.
| Metal | 2026 balance (Johnson Matthey, 14 May 2026) |
|---|---|
| Platinum | Deficit, fourth consecutive year |
| Palladium | Small surplus, 214 koz |
| Rhodium | Small surplus |
| Iridium | Further deficit |
| Ruthenium | Further deficit |
| Osmium | Not covered |
WPIC and Metals Focus publish platinum on a separate basis, and their September 2026 figures point the other way. WPIC's Platinum Quarterly of 9 September 2026 reports the platinum lines below.
| Platinum line (WPIC and Metals Focus basis) | Figure |
|---|---|
| 2026 balance, forecast | 265 koz surplus |
| 2025 balance, revised | Deficit of over 1.4 Moz |
| 2026 investment demand, forecast | 83 koz net disinvestment |
WPIC figures; never combined with Johnson Matthey's in one calculation.
The two houses define supply and demand differently, so Johnson Matthey's deficit and WPIC's surplus each hold on their own basis. How the platinum market deficit built up over three years is covered under platinum market deficit.
Each edition revises the last: WPIC's May 2026 edition had forecast a 297,000 oz deficit, a 562,000 oz swing to September's surplus.
Publication dates and bases of each house's PGM market reports are compared under PGM market reports.
PGM sellers and buyers use today's prices as the reference for scrap payouts, bullion premiums and price alerts. A refiner pays on the metal it recovers, a bullion dealer sells at a premium over spot, and an alert fires when a quote crosses a set level. The pages below apply the six quotes to each task.
Every PGM has price pages for the units its market uses: grams and kilograms for all six, 10 grams for platinum, palladium and rhodium, and pounds for platinum. The 16 unit pages are listed below.
| Metal | Per gram | Per kilogram | Other units |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum | Platinum price per gram | Platinum price per kilogram | Platinum price per 10 grams; Platinum price per pound |

A PGM basket price is a producer's revenue per basket ounce, and the basket must be named because 6E excludes osmium. 3E covers platinum, palladium and rhodium; 4E adds gold; 6E covers platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and gold. Geologists' 6PGE includes osmium and excludes gold. The realized, backward-looking arithmetic is set out under PGM basket price.
PGM recyclers pay on recovered metal content, priced off the same quotes as this table, less refining charges. A spent catalytic converter, for example, is paid on its assayed platinum, palladium and rhodium.
Catalytic converter recycling runs from decanning to refined metal, described under catalytic converter recycling. The payout arithmetic, metal content times price less charges, is worked through under catalytic converter scrap prices.
PGM investors choose between bars and coins, exchange-traded funds and mining stocks. Bars and coins sell at a dealer premium over spot, ETFs hold vaulted metal, and mining stocks add company risk to the metal price. Routes are compared under investing in platinum. The abrdn Physical Platinum Shares ETF held US$2.14 billion on 23 September 2026 (abrdn); funds are compared under platinum ETFs, and producers under platinum stocks.
DailyPlatinum price alerts email you when any of the six PGMs crosses a price you set, in the currency and unit you choose. Setup is on platinum price alerts. The daily PGM price and market report records each close and its cause every business day, and websites can embed the six quotes with the free PGM price widget.
Six questions about PGM prices come up most often; each answer below carries its series and date.
One troy ounce of platinum (31.1034768 g) is worth $1,711.00 at 5 Oct 2026, 15:35 UTC. That is the spot value of pure metal at wholesale: coins and bars sell above it by a dealer premium, and scrap pays below it after refining charges. The same ounce is worth €1,525.99 in euros.
One troy ounce of iridium is worth $8,150.00 on the refiner quote named in the iridium row, as of 5 Oct 2026, 15:30 UTC. Umicore's fabricated sales price was €252,400 per kilogram on 24 September 2026, about €7,851 per troy ounce by our own conversion. A fabricated price includes making the metal into a usable form, so it runs above a sponge base price.
Platinum is harder to sell than gold because its market is thinner, so dealers quote wider bid-ask spreads. A seller receives the dealer's bid, not the mid-price. Spreads widen again for small lots and for sponge, wire or alloyed jewelry, which pass through assay or refining before payment.
No price direction is certain; WPIC's Platinum Quarterly of 9 September 2026 forecasts a 265,000-ounce platinum surplus for 2026, with investment at 83,000 oz of net disinvestment. Johnson Matthey's May 2026 report, on its own basis, shows a fourth consecutive year of deficit, so the two leading houses disagree on direction.
PGM prices differ between websites because each site shows a different price series at a different time: platinum's January 2026 record reads $2,923 at WPIC and $2,860 on Johnson Matthey's base price. Minor metals add a second layer, since Johnson Matthey quotes sponge in dollars per ounce while Umicore quotes euros per gram in 6 price types.
In metals, PGM stands for platinum group metals, and geologists call the same six elements PGEs (platinum group elements). The six are platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.
