Palladium Price per Unit in India#
Palladium trades in India by the gram, the troy ounce and the kilogram; no fact in DailyPlatinum's sources confirms a 10-gram or tola quoting convention for palladium the way IBJA and jewelers quote gold and platinum. The table below lists 3 weights with exact gram and troy-ounce equivalents, each converted live from the international spot price.
| Weight | Grams | Troy ounces | Price in INR (live) | Price in USD (live) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 gram | 1 | 0.0321507466 | ₹3,607.16 | $37.46 |
| 1 troy ounce | 31.1034768 | 1 | ₹112,195.11 | $1,165.00 |
| 1 kilogram | 1,000 | 32.1507466 | ₹3,607,156.68 | $37,455.62 |
One gram is the unit most Indian queries compare against a dealer's rate, and palladium price per gram today tracks it in other currencies. Larger weights scale in a straight line: one kilogram costs 1,000 times the gram rate, tracked separately on palladium price per kilogram today. A troy ounce converter turns any of these weights into grams or ounces.
How the India Palladium Price Is Calculated#
The palladium price in India is the dollar spot price converted to rupees per gram, plus a dealer premium; no verified import duty or GST rate specific to palladium is confirmed in DailyPlatinum's sources, so neither factor appears in the formula below.
Local price per gram (INR) ≈ (S ÷ 31.1034768) × FX + dealer premium
S = USD spot price per troy ounce; FX = rupees per US dollar
Illustrative only (not today's price): if USD spot = $X/oz, FX = Y INR/USD,
dealer premium = P per gram, then local price/g = (X ÷ 31.1034768) × Y + P
Dividing by 31.1034768, the exact grams in a troy ounce, turns the ounce price into a gram price before the exchange rate and the dealer's margin apply. What Moves the Palladium Price in India?#
Four factors move the palladium price in India: the USD benchmark, the USD/INR exchange rate, Russian supply and global automotive demand, listed below with dated evidence.
- USD benchmark: the LBMA palladium price rose 67.0% in 2025, from $994 at the start of the year to $1,660 at year end (Johnson Matthey, May 2026).
- USD/INR exchange rate: the conversion is a straight multiplication, so a 1% fall in the rupee against the dollar raises the rupee rate by about 1% at an unchanged dollar price.
- Russian supply: Norilsk Nickel guided 2026 palladium output to about 2.42-2.47 million ounces, a 10-11% cut and "the lowest total since at least 2005" (Johnson Matthey, May 2026).
- Global automotive demand: autocatalysts consumed 81.1% of world palladium demand in 2025, 8,227 of 10,140 thousand ounces (Johnson Matthey, May 2026).
A US trade case adds a live wrinkle to Russian supply: Commerce set a final 132.83% anti-dumping margin on 28 April 2026 and an affirmative countervailing duty (preliminary rate 109.10%) on 20 May 2026 for unwrought Russian palladium (trade.gov), but the US International Trade Commission's negative injury finding around 15 June 2026 means no AD/CVD order is in effect; Sibanye-Stillwater's appeal to the US Court of International Trade, filed 16 July 2026, was unresolved as of 24 September 2026. The palladium market's full balance, and what drives the platinum price across the wider PGM complex, are covered on their own pages.
Hallmarking and Purity of Palladium in India#
BIS mandatory hallmarking in India covers only gold and silver, so palladium, like platinum, falls outside the mandatory scheme. The Bureau of Indian Standards states in its hallmarking FAQ: "In India, at present two precious metals namely gold and silver have been brought under the purview of Hallmarking." No India-specific palladium purity mark or certification programme is recorded in DailyPlatinum's sources. Palladium (Pd) is element 46, CAS number 7440-05-3, with an atomic mass of 106.42; its properties are covered on palladium (Pd), element 46.
Where Palladium Is Bought and Sold in India#
Palladium has no established retail bullion or jewelry market in India in DailyPlatinum's sources; it is bought and sold through dealer and refiner channels linked to the international price, not a domestic retail counter. India's IBJA benchmark, published twice daily for gold, silver and Platinum999, does not list a palladium rate, so no Indian institution publishes a domestic palladium benchmark the way it does for those three metals (IBJA).
Global palladium jewelry demand has collapsed to just 0.8% of total palladium demand in 2025, 83 of 10,140 thousand ounces (Johnson Matthey, May 2026), down from a Chinese-led peak of roughly 1,190 thousand ounces in 2005, consistent with the absence of a comparable Indian retail story. Investing in palladium covers bars, coins and ETFs where they exist; for material bought on its metal content rather than a retail premium, scrap palladium price explains how refiners and recyclers price it.
Palladium vs Gold Price in India Today#
Palladium and gold are priced in India on the same USD-to-rupee conversion, not a fixed ratio, and the relationship between the two has swung sharply over the past four years. On 7 March 2022, palladium's all-time high of $3,440.76 per troy ounce (Trading Economics; Reuters) came the same day gold crossed $2,000 per ounce, when palladium cost roughly 72% more than gold. By 6 August 2026, the relationship had reversed: Kitco quoted palladium at $1,354.00 per ounce against gold at $4,259.70, so palladium priced at about 32% of gold that day.
| Measure | Palladium | Gold |
|---|---|---|
| Benchmark administrator | ICE Benchmark Administration, since 1 July 2026 | ICE Benchmark Administration, since March 2015 |
| IBJA daily INR benchmark | No | Yes |
| BIS mandatory hallmarking | No | Yes |
| All-time high (USD/troy oz) | $3,440.76 (7 March 2022) | $5,608.35 (January 2026) |
The wider comparison of properties, density and industrial use sits on palladium vs gold; how palladium compares with the PGM it most often substitutes for in autocatalysts is on platinum vs palladium.
Other PGMs Priced in India#
India also has published price pages for other PGMs. Platinum price in India today tracks the metal with the country's only domestic bullion benchmark, IBJA's Platinum999 rate. Palladium's rupee conversion elsewhere follows the same method: palladium price in the UK today and palladium price in South Africa today apply the same USD-spot-to-local-currency formula to GBP and ZAR.
Palladium Price History and Outlook#
Palladium's longer price history for India context sits on the metal's own page, not repeated here. Palladium price history covers the annual US dollar series behind today's swings, including the $3,440.76 all-time high; palladium price forecast compares named 2026 outlooks, including Johnson Matthey's call for a 214,000-ounce global surplus for 2026 against Metals Focus's estimate (via WPIC) of a 1,069,000-ounce deficit for 2025; and palladium price chart plots the live and historical series.
Palladium Price in India FAQ#
What is the price of 10 grams of palladium in India today?#
Ten grams of palladium costs ₹36,071.57 in India today, simply ten times the per-gram rate. Unlike platinum, no fact confirms that Indian dealers quote palladium per 10 grams as a separate market convention.
How much is 1 gram of palladium?#
One gram of palladium costs ₹3,607.16 in India today ($37.46), converted from the live USD spot price plus a dealer premium.
Is palladium rarer than gold?#
