Key takeaways

  • Ten grams of platinum equal 0.3215 troy ounces or 0.857 tola, so the 10 gram price is the troy-ounce price multiplied by 0.32150747.
  • The rupee price of 10 grams of platinum is built in 4 steps: convert the USD spot price to 10 grams, convert dollars to rupees, add 15.4% customs duty and add 3% GST.
  • A 10 gram platinum bar costs more per gram than the spot price because the fixed cost of making and packaging it is spread over only 0.32 troy ounces of metal.
  • The highest platinum price per 10 grams is $939.77, converted from the $2,923 per troy ounce record of 26 January 2026 reported by the World Platinum Investment Council (WPIC).
  • Platinum has traded below gold continuously since 2015 (metalcharts); BullionVault writes that "since the 2015 diesel scandal, platinum's price has trailed that of gold."

Platinum 10 Gram Price in INR, USD, Tola and Troy Ounces#

Ten grams of platinum equal 0.3215 troy ounces or 0.857 tola, so the 10 gram price is the troy-ounce price multiplied by 0.32150747. A troy ounce is exactly 31.1034768 g; a tola is exactly 11.6638038 g (3/8 troy ounce, Regulation VII of 1833).

Weight Grams Troy ounces USD (live) INR, international (live) INR, India landed estimate (live)

Every row scales the platinum spot price per ounce today, shown on platinum spot price per ounce today.

One tola costs 1.1664 times the 10 gram price (11.6638038 g ÷ 10 g, a DailyPlatinum calculation).

Other weights convert at the same exact constants in the troy ounce converter.

Why India Quotes Platinum per 10 Grams#

India quotes platinum per gram and per 10 grams, the same units its bullion trade uses for gold, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). IBJA publishes a Platinum999 rate in rupees twice each business day (AM and PM), the benchmark for India's bullion, lending and jewelry trade; the rupee lines here are converted spot instead, so the two can differ.

Ten grams (0.857 tola) sit close to the older tola, which survives in some regional and wholesale trade, according to IBJA; tola weights convert with the tola converter.

Pakistan's All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association likewise announces its daily gold rate per tola and per 10 grams (Business Recorder).

Duty, GST, hallmarking and city rates, the rules behind the platinum price in India today, are on platinum price in India today.

How the 10 Gram Platinum Price Is Calculated in 4 Steps#

The rupee price of 10 grams of platinum is built in 4 steps: convert the USD spot price to 10 grams, convert dollars to rupees, add 15.4% customs duty and add 3% GST. The result is DailyPlatinum's landed estimate, not an official or IBJA price, as listed below.

  1. Divide the USD spot price per troy ounce by 31.1034768 and multiply by 10.
  2. Multiply by the USD/INR exchange rate.
  3. Multiply by 1.154 for the 15.4% customs duty in force since 13 May 2026.
  4. Multiply by 1.03 for 3% GST.

The table dates and sources each step.

Step Operation Input Source and date
1 ÷ 31.1034768 × 10 USD spot price per troy ounce Data vendor, live
2 × USD/INR Rupees per US dollar Exchange-rate feed, live
3 × 1.154 Customs duty 15.4% (10% BCD + 5.4% AIDC) Customs Notifications 15/2026 to 18/2026, from 13 May 2026
4 × 1.03 GST 3% on metal value Tally Solutions GST guide (GST 2.0, from 22 September 2025)
Not included none Dealer premium; making charges (5% GST when billed separately) Varies by dealer and city

The duty is 10% basic customs duty (BCD) plus 5.4% Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) under Notification 16/2026-Customs, according to A2Z Taxcorp. The 3% GST is Tally Solutions' rate for platinum jewelry metal value; GST assessment on imported bars is not established in DailyPlatinum's sources, so step 4 is an estimate.

A worked example uses the dated record: at WPIC's all-time high of $2,923 per troy ounce (26 January 2026), step 1 gives $2,923 × 0.32150747 = $939.77 per 10 grams. Steps 2 to 4 need a same-moment USD/INR rate, which the widget applies live.

How India's Import Duty Changes the 10 Gram Price#

India's import duty change of 13 May 2026 raised the rupee price of 10 grams of platinum by 8.46% on the same USD spot price and exchange rate, because the duty went from 6.4% to 15.4% under Customs Notifications 15/2026 to 18/2026, dated 12 May 2026. The previous change ran the other way.

Duty change Effective Duty 10 g rupee price at constant USD and FX
Union Budget 2024-25 24 July 2024 15.4% to 6.4% -7.80% (1.064 ÷ 1.154 - 1)
Customs Notifications 15/2026 to 18/2026 13 May 2026 6.4% to 15.4% +8.46% (1.154 ÷ 1.064 - 1)

Both percentages are DailyPlatinum calculations; the 1.03 GST factor cancels out of the ratio. The government cited macroeconomic stability, the current account and foreign exchange reserves, and gold moved the same way (15%, 6%, 15%).

How Much Pure Platinum Is in 10 Grams: 999.5, Pt950 and Pt900#

Ten grams of Pt950 platinum contain 9.5 grams of pure platinum, while a 10 gram bar at 999.5 fineness contains 9.995 grams. The World Platinum Investment Council (WPIC) glossary calls Pt950, written in parts per 1,000, "the most common variant" of platinum jewelry.

Bars use higher grades, set out on platinum purity grades. The fine platinum in 10 grams of each grade is shown below.

Grade Fine platinum in 10 g (g) Fine platinum in 10 g (oz t) Typical form
999.5 9.995 0.3213 Investment bars
Pt950 9.5 0.3054 Jewelry, the most common grade
Pt900 9.0 0.2894 Jewelry; Japan mid-market, US legacy (Pt900/Ir)
Pt850 8.5 0.2733 Jewelry; Japan and China

The LPPM Good Delivery minimum for platinum plate is 99.95%.

Metal value is the fine share times the 10 gram price. India has no compulsory platinum hallmark: the Bureau of Indian Standards states that "at present two precious metals namely gold and silver have been brought under the purview of Hallmarking." The Pt950 stamp is explained on 950 platinum (Pt950).

10 Gram Platinum Bars: Premium over Spot and Availability#

A 10 gram platinum bar costs more per gram than the spot price because the fixed cost of making and packaging it is spread over only 0.32 troy ounces of metal. JM Bullion's single-unit cash prices of 5-6 August 2026, measured against its own platinum ask of $1,763.90 per troy ounce, show the premium rising as size falls.

Product (JM Bullion, 5-6 Aug 2026) Weight Premium over spot
1 kg platinum bar 1,000 g 5.2%
500 g platinum bar 500 g 5.5%
10 oz platinum bar 311.03 g 6.1%
1 oz platinum bar 31.10 g 7.2%
1/4 oz American Platinum Eagle 7.78 g 45.4%
1/10 oz American Platinum Eagle 3.11 g 99.0%
10 g platinum bar 10 g (0.32 oz t) Not quoted: out of stock, 6 Aug 2026

Premiums are DailyPlatinum calculations from JM Bullion's prices and its $1,763.90 ask.

No dated 10 gram premium exists, because JM Bullion listed 26 gram-denomination platinum products, 10 g bars included, as out of stock on 6 August 2026. By weight, a 10 g bar sits between the 1/4 oz coin (45.4%) and the 1 oz bar (7.2%), a range rather than a figure. Brands and sizes are compared in platinum bars: sizes and premiums.

Why were 10 gram bars out of stock? Platinum three-month lease rates rose from about 3% in late 2024 to above 20% by mid-2025, according to Johnson Matthey (May 2026) and WPIC. Small-bar fabricators lease their metal, and WPIC's Platinum Quarterly Q1 2026 reports that elevated lease rates "for some manufacturers made it prohibitively expensive to manufacture small bars and coins."

In India, the same report notes, "very few retailers sold platinum investment products" in 2025, before manufacturers built bar and coin capacity.

Coin and industrial-metal premiums are tracked on platinum premiums over spot.

Platinum Price per 10 Grams: Record High, 2008 Peak and 2026 Low#

The highest platinum price per 10 grams is $939.77, converted from the $2,923 per troy ounce record of 26 January 2026 reported by the World Platinum Investment Council (WPIC). Four series record the key points, as the table shows.

Event USD per troy ounce Series (source) Date USD per 10 grams
All-time high 2,923 WPIC 26 Jan 2026 939.77
Same event 2,860 Johnson Matthey base price Jan 2026 919.51
2008 peak 2,308.80 NYMEX futures (Nasdaq) 4 Mar 2008 742.30
2026 low to date 1,646 LBMA fix series (via learn.bulliontradingllc.com) Jun 2026 529.20

Four series, not one: each 10 gram figure is its series' troy-ounce price × 0.32150747.

From the January high to the June low, 10 grams of platinum lost $410.57, a 43.7% fall in about five months (WPIC high against the LBMA low). The 2008 peak stood as the record for 17 years, until 24 December 2025. Annual highs and lows are in platinum price history.

Rupee records are not shown, because no dated USD/INR series is in DailyPlatinum's sources.

Platinum vs Gold Price per 10 Grams#

Platinum trades at 41.4%% of the gold price per 10 grams today, ₹52,977.21 against ₹128,049.42 for gold at converted spot.

Measure Platinum Gold
Price per 10 g, USD (live) $550.10 $1,329.63
Price per 10 g, INR converted spot (live) ₹52,977.21 ₹128,049.42
Change today +1.18% −0.10%
India import duty since 13 May 2026 15.4% 15%

India's duty gap barely moves this: platinum's landed cost relative to gold is 1.154 ÷ 1.15 = 1.0035 times the spot ratio (a DailyPlatinum calculation). Rarity and value are compared on platinum vs gold price.

Platinum has traded below gold continuously since 2015 (metalcharts); BullionVault writes that "since the 2015 diesel scandal, platinum's price has trailed that of gold." On 16 April 2025 gold cost 3.45 times as much as platinum (GuruFocus), so 10 grams of gold bought 34.5 grams of platinum.

Metals Focus finds that a widening gold-platinum gap raises platinum's share of Indian retail inventory, and forecasts Indian jewelry demand up 5% to about 260 koz in 2026, from 247 koz in 2025. The causes are in why platinum is cheaper than gold.

Buy, Sell and Track Platinum by the 10 Grams#

Platinum buyers, sellers and jewelers use the 10 gram price as the reference for bar prices, scrap payouts and price alerts. Alerts are managed under platinum price alerts.

Selling 10 Grams of Platinum#

Platinum sellers are paid on the fine platinum content of an item, not its gross weight, so 10 grams of Pt950 is valued as 9.5 grams of platinum.

The platinum value calculator multiplies weight, purity and the live price.

The buyer then deducts a spread or refining charge from that metal value.

Assay and refining charges are explained on scrap platinum price.

Buying a 10 Gram Platinum Bar#

Buyers of a 10 gram platinum bar pay the spot value of 0.3215 troy ounces plus a dealer premium, and in India also 15.4% duty and 3% GST, so the landed estimate is the floor under the rupee price.

Dealer choice and storage are covered in how to buy platinum.

With 10 g bars out of stock at JM Bullion in August 2026, buyers compare live dealer premiums rather than a published one.

Bars, coins, ETFs, stocks and futures are compared on investing in platinum.

Platinum per 10 Grams in Indian Cities, Other Units and Other PGMs#

Platinum rates per 10 grams differ between Indian cities by dealer premium and logistics, not by tax, because GST is one national rate, according to Tally Solutions. Related pages are listed below.

Platinum 10 Gram Price FAQ#

How much is 10 grams of platinum?#

Ten grams of platinum (0.3215 troy ounces) are worth $550.10, or ₹61,135.70 in India with duty and GST, at 5 Oct 2026, 15:35 UTC. Bars add a dealer premium.

Is platinum jewelry 100% platinum?#

No, platinum jewelry is an alloy: Pt950, the most common grade, is 95% platinum, so 10 grams hold 9.5 grams of the metal. India's mandatory BIS hallmarking covers only gold and silver, so the Pt950 stamp is the buyer's guide; see 950 platinum (Pt950).

Why is platinum hard to sell?#

Platinum is harder to sell than gold because dealers quote wider bid-ask spreads on it. Spreads widen with illiquidity in the order gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, so 10 grams of platinum sell at a larger discount to spot than 10 grams of gold.

How high will platinum go in 2026?#

No price level for 2026 is certain; WPIC's Platinum Quarterly of 9 September 2026 forecasts a 265,000-ounce platinum surplus for 2026 after a 2025 deficit of over 1.4 million ounces. Named outlooks are on platinum price forecast.

Is platinum more expensive than 24k gold?#

No, platinum has cost less than gold continuously since 2015, so 10 grams of platinum cost less than 10 grams of 24 karat gold today: ₹52,977.21 against ₹128,049.42. See platinum vs gold price.

How much is 1 gram of platinum worth?#

One gram of platinum is worth $55.01, one tenth of the 10 gram price, or ₹5,297.72 at converted spot. Other currencies are on platinum price per gram today.
